Your bed is where you unravel; It's your stage and your bodies are the main characters for your most intimate encounters. Whether the bed you choose is an elaborately carved wooden bed, a four-poster metal bed or a tufted upholstered headboard, it should make you feel like the star of the show.

1.Get touchy feely with your sheets. There is nothing more serene than your own private world underneath the sheets. Your bed sheets should feel good against your body.  It is important to make sure that you feel them before buying in order to judge what the hand is like; after all, you will be wearing these sheets almost every night, morning and perhaps, an occasional afternoon, if you should be so lucky.  Choose wisely and experiment with different fabrics such as Egyptian cotton, linen or bamboo sheeting. Who says you should only have one boudoir outfit?

2. Find that perfect pillow for a good night’s rest - the one that gives your head and neck the support they need and deserve. Your perfect pillow could be filled with down, cotton, feathers, memory foam or millet hulls.  The perfect pillow allows you to feel like you are floating on a cloud and melting away into Never-Never Land.

# 3 "Leave room for a pleasantly mysterious scent. Try placing a night jasmine or winter jasmine plant in your bedroom. Jasmine is fragrantly intoxicating. Mmmmm, the lingering scent of an aphrodisiac is divine."

4.  Lighting is crucial for setting the mood. Soft lighting can be more figure-flattering and a complexion enhancer.  If you have overhead light fixtures, install dimmers to allow for fine-tuning the light intensity to suit your mood.

5. Try choosing a sexy overhead fixture, like a chandelier. Chandeliers hung in the bedroom are stately and whisper romance ever so delicately making you feel it’s time to chill that fancy bottle of champagne you have been saving in the back of the cupboard or maybe having an elaborate eight-course meal—in bed.

6. Adorn one or more walls with a substantial piece of art. This could be a nude, a landscape or an abstract piece of work that you find to be meditative.  Choose an art piece that will act as your mantra, a reminder that this is your safe haven, a place to relax and return to your instincts.

7. Remember to indulge in little acts of simple luxury. On an unlikely evening just before bedtime, spritz on a bit of that perfume you keep in your collection but might not wear everyday. As my Nonnie always told me, “You never know who you might meet in your dreams.”
